Thermodynamic Flanged Trap General Features

• It is simple, robust and reliable.
• They can operate up to very high temperatures and pressures.
• Initially, the incoming pressure raises the disc and the cool condensate is immediately discharged.
• The hot condensate flowing through the inlet passage to the chamber below the disc lowers the pressure and releases the flash steam moving at high velocity. This high velocity creates a low pressure area under the disc, pulling it towards its seat.
• Operating speed depends on the temperature and steam conditions.
• Most traps will stay closed for 20 to 40 seconds. If the trap is opened too often, perhaps due to a cold, wet, or windy location, the opening speed can be slowed by installing an insulating cover on top of the trap.
