The Relief Valve provides a constant upstream pressure by relieving excess pressure.

Sustaining Application: The valve is installed in the distribution line between two pressure zones. If the demand for the lower zone causes a drop in the upper zone pressure, the pressure is maintained at a preset minimum. When this occurs, the pressure available for the downstream region is reduced.

Relief Application: The valve is installed to relieve excess pressure from a source. In a typical setup, the valve redirects excess flow/pressure back to atmosphere, a storage tank, or a pump inlet.
